Product Selection

Incredible selection for Ontario beer drinkers:

The Beer Store logo

The Beer Store allows any brewer, large or small, to sell any beer product they choose in any of its 447 retail locations – and The Beer Store plays no role in setting brewer prices - each brewer determines their own selling price.

That’s why The Beer Store now offers more than 420 brands from 100 brewers, with 20% of brands coming from Ontario craft brewers. While The Beer Store discounts its service charges for smaller brewers to support their growth, space-constrained convenience stores and gas stations would have little space for local and craft brands.

“Ken Woods, the president of Etobicoke’s Black Oak Brewing, estimates a move toward selling beer in convenience stores would hurt the market share of small, local brewers, and possibly put some out of business almost immediately.”

How The Beer Store ensures ultimate product selection:

  • The Beer Store - new stores

    New Stores

In the past five years, The Beer Store has opened more than 35 new stores across the province that reflect The Beer Store’s emphasis on selection, efficient service and its role as Ontario’s “cold beer headquarters.”

  • The Beer Store - Selection and Service

    Selection & Service

The Beer Store has modernized its highly popular self-serve format, to allow customers to return their empties in a separate room, then browse through a large shopping area full of the beer they love. All new self-serve stores use this format.

  • The Beer Store - new brand

    New Brand

In May 2013, The Beer Store launched a new look, brand and colour scheme and enhanced customer service training at four pilot locations. Over the next two years, The Beer Store will invest more than $30 million to bring this fresh branding, design concept and customer service to stores across Ontario.
